Frequently Asked Questions
The most common things new patients ask us before their first visit. Don't see your question here? Send us a message and we'll get you a real answer.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No. Georgia is a direct-access state for physical therapy, which means you can schedule with us without a physician's referral. Many of our patients do come from referrals, but it's not required.
Will my insurance cover this?
We're an out-of-network practice, which lets us spend the full session focused on you instead of paperwork. Many patients use HSA/FSA, and we provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement through Reimbursify. Many patients are surprised by how much their insurance ends up covering.
What happens at my first visit?
A 60-minute one-on-one evaluation with one of our PTs. We'll talk through your history, do a whole-body assessment, and discuss whether an internal pelvic floor exam makes sense — always at your pace and only with your consent.
How many visits will I need?
It varies by condition and goal, but most patients see meaningful improvement within 6-8 visits. Your PT will discuss a plan with you at your evaluation.
I'm nervous about an internal exam. Do I have to have one?
Never. An internal assessment is just one of many tools, and it's always your choice. Many patients see meaningful results without internal work, and you can change your mind at any visit.
Can men come to KPP?
Yes. Our entire practice is built around the premise that every pelvis deserves care. We treat men for chronic prostatitis, post-prostatectomy rehab, pelvic floor tension, and a wide range of other conditions.
Do you provide LGBTQIA+ affirming care?
Yes. Every member of our team uses your pronouns, asks about your body the way you want it talked about, and provides care that affirms who you are. We have specific experience with trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse patients, including pre and post gender-affirming surgical care.
What about a sliding scale?
We have a tier-based sliding scale program for patients who qualify. Apply here and we'll review your application.
